The Village of Kohukohu
Kohukohu is a hillside village with a population of 200 people and serves community of 600 people. In the late 19th century and early 20th century Kohukohu was was a bustling kauri mill town. Walk around the village to view well preserved kauri wood colonial buildings and to enjoy the harbour scenery and small village atmosphere.
A waterfront general store sells food supplies 7 days a week. "Waterline" licensed cafe and restaurant opens 6-7 days a week and 1-2 nights a week, with reduced hours in the winter months. The restaurant can also be booked for group meals or functions.
Hokianga Harbour Hotel serves bar meals and can be booked for groups or functions.
Other attractions include two galleries featuring local artists, and a collection of historic photographs in the community library.
